Wow. Like so many others here, my kids and I need a place to live. Our situation is a little different. I don't have a job because I am a full time student (I work part-time during the school year). I have 4 kids, 1 dog, and 2 cats. We were living in a mobile home community but it got to be too unbearable. There were so many problems with the community manager, things getting stolen (my kids lost 3 bikes and a scooter), homes getting broken into and the community not wanting to do anything about it. We gave appropriate notice, never fell behind on rent, and left the house in excellent condition. We can easily afford an apartment (including security deposit, etc). The problem comes in because most apartments have told me they don't like my source of income (it's child support and social security in addition to my part-time job). Every place we've applied has turned us down because of this. Does anyone have any ideas? (I'm getting tired of paying app fees only to be denied).
